16-YEARS PAKISTANI MEHAK GULL BECOMES JUNIOR APPLICANT TO WIN WORLD CHESS OLYMPAID

Pakistani 16 years old Mehak Gull became youngest candidate from the country to seize the title of ‘Woman Candidate Master’ at World Chess Olympiad 2016 held at Azerbaijan.

Mehak Gul,achieved this accomplishment at 42nd World Chess Olympiad. She won six out of 11 rounds.

This year 2016’s chess Olympiad 150 countries from all over the world participated and the world women runner up title was bestowed upon 82 players from the world in which 16 years proud Pakistani Mehak Gull was also included.

Mehak gull is playing chess from the age of six but was highlighted when she surmounted in securing positions at provincial and national level chess championships.

In June 2016 she won third position in Punjab chess championship, and won fifth at the National chess championship which was held in Karachi three months ago through which she was able to empower her for the team which would represent Pakistan at the international levels.

In an interview she told that her father Mohammad Zahid who was also her coach was always a big fan of her playing styles and her father proudly told in an interview that she was the youngest to qualify for the Olympiad from Pakistan.

Gull’s dreams come true when she got fruitful results of her hard works when she got a title of “Grand Master” from the World Chess Federation.

Gull is the only member of the Pakistan women’s national team who hails from Lahore.

The world Olympiad is a biannual event which is going to be held in Istanbul from August 27 to September 10, and will host players from more than 160 countries.
